Through interactive workshops with local agencies\, participants learn stranger awareness\, boundary-setting\, emergency preparedness\, and age-appropriate self-defense focused on de-escalation and escape. The program builds awareness\, confidence\, and practical decision-making skills so youth feel prepared—not fearful—in real-world situations. \nThere will be a special presenter every week so stay tuned to our social media posts for more info! \n\n\n\n\nWeek 1 (June 23): Safe Sex! \nThis class provides a comprehensive\, nonjudgmental\, and inclusive approach to sexual health education. Participants will learn about: \n\nContraception Options: Condoms\, birth control pills\, IUDs\, implants\, and other methods to prevent pregnancy.\nSexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): How STIs are transmitted\, prevention strategies\, testing\, and treatment options.\nHealthy Relationships: Consent\, communication\, boundaries\, and respectful decision-making.\nBody Awareness: Anatomy\, reproductive health\, and self-care.\nPractical Skills: Proper condom use\, negotiation for safer sex\, and accessing healthcare resources.\n\nClasses are typically interactive\, confidential\, and suitable for people of all genders and sexual orientations. This introductory session will explore the importance of waste reduction\, recycling\, and environmental stewardship while creating practical tools that will be used throughout the program. The customized recycling stations will help encourage park visitors to keep shelter areas clean and promote recycling habits both in the park and at home. Participants will also learn about the Detroit Recycles program\, discuss local recycling practices\, and complete a recycling knowledge assessment. \n\n\n\n\nThis program introduces students to the seven elements of art; line\, shape\, form\, colour\, value\, texture\, and space—through hands-on exploration inspired by the natural world. Through interactive workshops with local agencies\, participants learn stranger awareness\, boundary-setting\, emergency preparedness\, and age-appropriate self-defense focused on de-escalation and escape. No prior knowledge of yoga is required to participate. This relaxing class is appropriate for beginners as well as regular practitioners. Participants strengthen\, calm and restore the mind and body with regular Hatha yoga practice. \n  \n\n
